ICFO, Spain

The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) was created in 2002 by the regional government of Catalonia and the Technical University of Catalonia. The Institute was launched with the mission to become a world-leading research center in Photonics. ICFO currently hosts more than 250 researchers organized in 23 research groups working in 60 state-of-the-art research laboratories, equipped with the latest experimental facilities and supported by a range of cutting-edge facilities for nanofabrication, characterization, imaging and engineering.

ICFO participates mainly in WP2 developing a Distributed Temperature Sensor (DTS) based on optical fibre technology. ICFO will integrate the sensor heads and/or fibers to be measure at high temperature, will implement optical fiber networks and will characterize optical fibre sensing devices and systems. Moreover ICFO also participates in WP3/WP4/WP5 to ensure the implementation of the DTS sensor, in WP6 for the software development, in WP8 for the demonstration activities and in WP9 for the dissemination of the projects results.
